Nsikak Essien, a Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors[FNGE] is a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka[Electrical and Electronic Engineering] and University of Wales, Cardiff, United Kingdom[post graduate degree in Microelectronics]. He is also an alumnus of the Lagos Business School.
After six years working as an engineer in NEPA and UACN, he moved into journalism practice, rising to the position of the 5th Editor of National Concord newspaper in Lagos. Before that he was the 2nd Editor of Business Concord newspaper in Lagos. He attended numerous industrial training programmes in both engineering and journalism. He was also the Chairman of Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation[AKNC], publishers of the Pioneer newspapers in Uyo.
His high points in Reporting in journalism practice were the two time coverage of the Meetings of Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries[OPEC] in Vienna, Austria and Geneva, Switzerland, as well as four time coverage of Annual General Meetings of African Development Bank in Abidjan[Cote D’voire] and Nairobi, Kenya. He was also a member of the United Nations sponsored Federal Government delegation to Malaysia. He is widely travelled around the world in the course of journalism and engineering practice.
He is a member of Raffia City Literary Club, Ikot Ekpene and is currently the Chairman of the Board of Patrons of the Club.
Nsikak Essien is the Chairman/Chief Executive of Union Communications and Publications Limited, which produces newspapers, magazines and books.
