was born in Umunkwo, Mbano, on November, 3, 1938. His father, late Honourable R. 0. Iwuagwu, a veteran politician who hailed from Umunkwu, has ten children. His mother, Mrs. Ekeoma Iwuagwu, a housewife, hailed from Atta, Mbaitoli in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State. His wife, Mr. Chineyre Iwuagwu, a teacher, was born on April 22, 1954. Both Mr. and Mrs. Iwuagwu have three children. His deceased father, no doubt, influenced him greatly in the field of politics. He attended elementary schools both at Onitsha and Ekwulaubia between 1941 and 1948. He was at St. Augustines' Grammar School, Nkwere from 1949 to 1953. He studied at the Inns' of Court School of Law, London between 1962 and 1966. He became a Barrister- At-Law (of the Middle Temple) in 1966. He was an Auxilliary Teacher at the Central School, Nkwere between 1953 and 1956. He was at the Land Registry, London from 1968-1969. Between 1969 and 1971, he was engaged in legal drafting at Her Majesty's Treasury Solicitors, London. He has visited Britain, France, Switzerland and Italy. Hon. Iwuagwu is interested in gardening and reading. He is a member of the Nigeria Peoples Party and represents Mbano West Constituency of imo State in the House of Representatives.
