Hon. Peter Chai Deme who hails from Barakin-Ladi, his Constituency, was born in Ganawuri, Plateau State on 15 June, 1946. A christian by faith and protestant by denomination, Hon. Peter Deme was a pupil at the Ganawuri Local Authority Primary School from 1955 to 1958. He also attended the Senior Primary School in Riyom between 1959 and 1961. His ambition within the context of higher educational attainment culminated in his ad mission to the Government College, Pankshin from 1962 to 1964 at the end of which he did the West African school certificate examina tion. From 1965 to 1966, he was a student at the Kaduna Technical Institute (now polytechnic). Hon. Peter Chai Deme's educational pursuit has been successfully rewarded, having equip ped himself with the Association Institute of Administrative Accounting (AAAI) and the Associate Institute of Certified Accountants (ACCA) certificates respectively. Hon Peter Chai Deme achieved these educational heights mainly through private studies. With this background, Hon. Peter Deme entered the labour market as an Accountant with Makeri Smelting Company, Jos. Thereafter he served in a similar capacity with Gold and Base Ltd., as well as JMDB Ltd., all in Jos. Hon. Peter Chai Deme was also a Super visory Councillor for Education for Barakin-Ladi Local Government Council before he finally opted for active political activities in 1979 when he was elected into House of" Representatives on the ticket of the Nigerian Peoples Party. Hon. Peter Chai Deme is a family man with four Children. An author of an article on the Universal Primary Education Scheme, he is in terested in reading, table tennis, current affairs and music.
