IMAM, Hon. Sanusi

was horn on June 2, 1939 at Kankiya, Kaduna State. His father, Liman M. Barma who was an Imam (Islamic religious leader) had seventeen children while his mother, Hajiya Fatimatu was a housewife. For his primary eduation, he attended Nuhu Primary School Kankiya, 1945 - 1949; thence Middle School, Katsina. He-later proceeded to Government Secondary School, Katsina in 1954. Hon. Sanusi had his Grade II Teachers' Certificate from Kano Teachers' College, Gwale in 1962. Between 1964 - 1967, he attended the Advanced Teachers' College, Zaria for the Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE). In 1976, he gained admission to University of Car diff, Wales which he left with his Bachelor's degree in Education in 1978. Before opting for politics, Hon. Sanusi had largely been connected with the teaching pro fession. He was employed by the Katsina Local Education Authority, 1960 1971. In 1972, he transferred his services to the Hausa Section of the British Broadcasing Corporation. He was back in the Education Department of Kankiya Local Government in 1976. Hon. Sanusi by dint of hard work, was promoted Deputy Education Officer of the Local Government in July 1978. Hon. Sanusi is married to Hajiya Jamila, a housewife in 1967 and Malama Bare, a teacher in September 1968. In all, he has five children. He has visited among other countries, United Kingdom, United States of America, some Latin American countries, most of the West and East European countries and the Middle East. His hobbies include Reading and Travelling. Hon. Sanusi is a member of the National Par ty of Nigeria and he represents Kankiya Constituency in the House of Representatives
