IDEOZU, Senator Osinakachukwu

Senator Osinakachukwu IDEOZU was born on July 27, 1965 into the IDEOZU FAMILY of Ahoada Town in the present Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, SENATOR IDEOZU started his early education at the St Paul’s State School, Ahoada from where he proceeded to the Western Ahoada County High School, Ahoada. SENATOR IDEOZU upon completion of his secondary education travelled to the United Kingdom for further studies at the then famous St. Aldates College, Oxford and upon return, enrolled at Rivers State University of Science & Technology, Port Harcourt where he studied Estate Management and graduated in 1989 with a First Class Honours Degree. He was briefly employed as a Graduate Assistant at the Rivers State University of Science & Technology upon the completion of his NYSC but left soon after for the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State where he studied for and obtained an MBA (Finance & Banking). SENATOR IDEOZU truly loves education. His quest for knowledge led to his enlisting in the Executive Programme of the Enugu State University of Science & Technology, Enugu State where he later obtained an MSc Degree in Environmental Management before travelling to the United Kingdom to undertake yet another Masters Degree in Public Policy from the very prestigious University College, London. SENATOR IDEOZU though a lover of knowledge and holder of several academic qualifications, is also passionate about his service to humanity. To fulfill that passion, he joined partisan politics and held various positions since the commencement of the current Nigerian democratic dispensation. He was first elected into the Rivers State House of Assembly, Port Harcourt in 1999 under the banner of the then All Peoples Party (APP) to represent the Ahoada East Constituency One where his dexterity stood him out and he became the Minority Whip of the then young Assembly. Four year down the line, the now Distinguished Senator was recognized by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on whose ticket he proceeded the National Assembly having been overwhelmingly elected by the People of the Abua/Odual and Ahoada East Federal Constituency to represent them in the House of Representatives, Abuja. Chief Ideozu later returned to serve the People of Rivers State as the Honourable Commissioner for Finance where he elevated prudent spending of public fund to an unprecedented height and the government had huge amounts to its credit in various accounts by the time he left; a feat that caused a significant and positive rating of the State by two credit agencies: Standards and Poors and Fitch. Mr Ideozu later proceeded to England for further studies and on return immediately contested for and won the election into the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to represent the Rivers West Senatorial District. His election was later to be annulled seven months into his tenure by the fiat of the Honourable Judges of Court of Appeal who had significant difficulty in explaining the reason(s) for their decision but as a law-abiding citizen, the Distinguished Senator Ideozu now awaits the conduct of the re-run election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in compliance with the order of the Court. The Peoples’ Senator is however not perturbed as he is so loved in his Senatorial District and will most likely and very easily win the re-run under a free and fair condition. Senator Ideozu is a duly registered Estate Surveyor and Valuer practising under the name of IDEOZU AND PARTNERS, a firm he founded in 2005. In his words “Estate Surveying is my life and my life is Estate Surveying. I am indeed very proud to be part of such a noble profession” Senator Ideozu also belongs to other professional bodies. He is a FELLOW of The Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered); FELLOW of The Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria; MEMBER of Social Policy Association (United Kingdom) and MEMBER of Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management (United States of America). Senator Ideozu won the Peoples Democratic Party Senatorial Primary in 2014 and became the Party's standard bearer for the Rivers West senatorial district in 2015 Nigerian National Assembly election. In the general elections, he was declared winner and elected with 279,745 votes to defeat the candidates of other political parties including the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his former colleague and closest rival, Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Dan Amachree, the then Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Senator Ideozu formally became the Senator representing the Rivers West Senatorial District from the 9 June 2015 following the successful inauguration of the 8th Senate of Nigeria.
