Chief Alexander Mascot Ikwechegh is a Nigerian businessman, philanthropist, and Chairman of GrossField Group; a Construction, Real Estate, Property Development and Oil and Gas company with operational offices in Lagos and Abuja. Ikwechegh was born in Abia, Southeast Nigeria, into the famous family of late Chief and Lolo Mascot Ukandu Ikwechegh. He is the fourth of his parents seven children. EARLY LIFE Education As a child, Ikwechegh attended Constitution Crescent Primary School, progressed through the renowned Hope Waddell Training Institute, Calabar, graduating with Honors from the University Of Calabar, Cross River State, where he studied Business Management. Politics Upon his graduation from the university, Hon. Alex Ikwechegh ventured into politics and was appointed the Deputy Chairman, Aba North Local Government Council. He later contested for the Chairmanship and won at 28, which earned him the title of youngest Council Chairman in Nigeria’s political history, a title he holds till date. BUSINESS VENTURE Having identified an opportunity in business and international trade, Ikwechegh set up a conglomerate of companies which major in construction, trade and investment and oil and gas. Today, he sits at the pinnacle of the following companies as the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer; The GrossField Group: GrossField Construction LTD, GrossField Energy and GrossField Merchants LTD with operational offices in Lagos and Abuja. GrossField Construction Limited is a household name in the Construction, Real Estate and Property Development sector in Nigeria with a track record of successfully completed and ongoing projects across the country. GrossField Energy Limited proudly anchors thriving investments in the crude oil and refined product trade sector, while GrossField Merchants LTD is the Forex management arm of Ikwechegh’s successful chain of businesses and is steadily growing to become a vibrant force in Forex advisory and trade ventures. He is indeed an entrepreneur par excellence. PHILANTHROPIC GESTURE Chie Alex Ikwechegh is a philanthropist of uncommon passion. The Alex Ikwechegh Foundation owned by the Abia born philanthropist has spent several million of naira in various areas of developmental projects and human empowerment in honour of his late parents Chief and Lolo Mascot Ikwechegh of blessed memory. The Foundation has been involved in various humanitarian works and selfless services across the three senatorial districts of Abia. • The foundation renovated and donated blocks of classrooms in Bende Local Government Area of Abia. • The Alex Ikwechegh Foundation successfully undertook and renovated NEPA cash offices, donated vehicles to vigilante groups and also clergymen in memory of his late parents who passed away in 1992. • Ikwechegh has made several donations to the Alex Ikwechegh Scholarship Scheme, which was established to give underprivileged students in Abia State access to quality education. Over 250 indigent students have enjoyed free scholarship from the scheme since inception. Others Include: • Medical outreach and offsetting of hospital bills of citizens, including that of Miss Esther Nmecha, the lady whose fingers were chopped off by suspected Fulani Herdsmen in Abia. • Visits and several donations to various motherless babies’ homes in Abia. • Promotion of Aba-made products via purchase and donations. • Donation of books, sandals, bags, exercise books to all schools in Aba South and Aba North Local Government Areas of Abia State.
