Institute, 1968-72; First African Presi dent, International Press Institute, 1972-74; Writer and publisher of five books and several lectures and Seminar papers; Publications: "The case for Lagos State;" "The Role of the Mass Media in a Developing Country" and "The Trial of Obafemi Awolowo;" Member, Lagos delegation to the adhoc Committee on Nigerian Consti tution, 1966-67. and later leader of the delegation; Detained in 1962 by the Federal Government; subsequently tried and jailed along with Chief Oba femi Awolowo in the treasonable felony case in September, 1963 and released in August, 1966 with full pardon by the Federal Government; Strong advocate of Prisoners' wel fare; Founder, National Association for Prisoners' Welfare; Married with seven children; Elected UPN civilian Governor for Lagos State in 1979.
