LAWAN, Hon. Tijani

Hon. Tijani Lawan was born in 1948 at Wulgo near Maiduguri. He is a muslim by religion and one of the 29 children of his father, Mr. Lawan Abba Goni, a village head and farmer at Wulgo. Hon. Lawan has two wives — Amina and Hadija both of whom he married on 28th December 1968 and 16th November 1974 respectively. He has five chidlren. Hon. Lawan attended Wulgo Primary School from 1956 - 1960 and the Dikwa Senior Primary School from 1960 - 1964. In 1970 he entered the Borno Teachers College and ob tained the Teachers' Grade II Certificate in 1974. From 1974 — 1975 he was employed as a Socio-Economic Survey Officer by Ledico (SPA). In 1975, he joined the Ministry of Educa tion, Maiduguri and worked as Assistant Head master at the Metropolitan Maiduguri Primary School. He resigned in 1977 to go into business. Hon. Lawan won election into the House of Representatives on the platform of the G.N.P.P. and represents Ngala West Consti tuency of Borno State. Honourable Lawan has travelled to Saudi- Arabia, Egypt, Tchad, Cameroun, Benin and other countries. His hobbies include reading, travelling and hunting.
