born at Obinagu in Udi LGA., Anambra State, on February 28,' 1928, Education: St. Dominic's School, Obinagu (1935) and St Thomas School Udi (1936-41); Col lege of the Immaculate Conception Enugu, 1947; passed Cambridge Sch ool Certificate in Grade I (with exemption from London Matricula tion). Qualifications: by private stu dies (mostly by postal tuition) passed Teachers Higher Elementary Certifi cate (1947), Inter. B.A. (London) 1949, and B.A. (2nd Class Honours) m 1951; LL.B. (2nd Class Hons. Upper Division) 1958; was Principal Trinity High School, Oguta; left for United Kingdom in prior to the jour ney, Jjad passed his Inter. LLB (London) in 1956. internal student in Law in the University College of Wales. Aberystwith; held a number of important positions including that of Secretary/Treasurer of the Over sea Students' Society, in the College and member of the Representative Finance Committee of the Students Union, andof the Discussion Forum for International Politics and Rela tions under Professor Reynolds; pas sed Bar Finals in September, 1958; called to the Bar on February 8th,' 1959 and enrolled as a Solicitor of the Federal Supreme Court of Nige ria on March 10th; set up Legal prac tice in Enugu in April, 1959; Married to Miss Brigid Onyia in January, I960, and has seven children; has had varied experiences in other aspects of public life, was director of anumber of limited liability Companies includ ing the Government-owned Nigeiran Glass Company Limited, Port Har court, was Member for Enugu in the Nigerian Federal Parliament (19561966); was appointed Attorney-Ge neral and Commisioner for Justice for East-Central State of Nigeria on 26th May, l£?Q; while AttorneyGeneral he was responsible for many revolutionary changes in the law and the judiciary, including the abolition of Customary Courts in the State and the Magistrates' Courts; has partici pated in many international seminars on the nature of Law in Africa; pre sented a paper on "Facing the Dicho tomy of Customary Law and English Law in the East-Central State" dur ing a seminar in the School of Orien tal and African Studies of the Univer sity of London in1972;a seminar on African Indigenous Laws held inthe University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1974; presented a paper on the "Dualism' of English Law and Customary Law: A Case for Fusion;" appointed Judge of the High Court of East-Central State on October 2nd, 1974; on June 15, 1977, was appointed aJustice of Appeal in the Federal Court of Appeal.
