Dr. Peter A. Nwankwo, Anambra State Commissioner for Economic Development and Planning was born at Ezzemgbo in Ishielu Local Govern ment Area on March 11,1938. He attended St. Theresa's Catholic Primary School, Abakaliki, 1941 to 1949; and St. Patrick's College, Cala bar, 1949 to 1954. He studied at the Lincoln University, U.S.A., 1965-68 Temple University, U.S.A., 1969-73 Maryland College, U.S.A., 1974-75 and Michigen State University, U.S.A 1976-77; Dr. Nwankwo holds the following degrees:- B.A., M.Sc, Ph.D., Dip. C.P.A., C.F.M. From 1954-65, Dr. Nwankwo worked as the Treasurer, Ishielu County Council; Treasurer, Isi-Uzo County Council and Secretary, Eket Ubiom County Council. He was the Director of Finance, Du Pont Corporation, Wilkington, U.S.A., 1972-74; Chief Accountant/Field Auditor, Cen tre for Alternatives Inc. U.S.A., 197577. From 1977 to 1979, he was the Chief Group Internal Auditor of the E.O. Ashamu Group of Companies, member, E.O. Ashamu Group of Companies' Management Board and General Manager, NEPCO, a firm in the E.O. Ashamu Groupof Companies Dr. Nwankwo has attended many courses including accounting 1 course, of P.M.& M. at the Public Accounting Firm, U.S.A.; Local Government Training Course at the University of Ibadan; Financial/Business Manage ment course in U.S.A.; Teachers Training Courses at the Cathohc Col lege, Philadelphia, U.S.A.;and Econo mic Analysis of Minority Business course in U.S.A. Dr. Nwankwo is a member of the Public Accountants of U.S.A., member of the American National Society of Public Accountants and member, American Management Association. He is married with seven children.
