Mr. Ike Nwokolo, Special Adviser on Economic and Financial Matter to the Governor, Anambra State, was born at Onitsha on May 22, 1936 by Mr. Robert and Mrs. Jamimah Nwo kolo of Ukpor in Nnewi LocalGovern ment area. He attended C.M.S. Central School and the Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha. He studied in London as a Federal Government Scholar. He was articled to a reputable firm of Chartered Accountants in the city of London and qualified as a Chartered Accountant of England and Wales in 1965. He became a fellow of the Insti tute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (F.C.A) in 1975 and also Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria the same year. He specialised in the field of Taxation in London andisanAssociate of ^ the Institute of Taxation, London, * (A.T.I.I.). Between 1975 and 1977 when he was in charge of his firm's operations in Swaziland, he was a Lecturer and Examiner in Taxation at the University of Botswana and Swaziland. He created the "Dee Nwokolo Taxation PrizeFund" atthe University for the best student in Taxation paper of the B.Comm., degree. Mr. Nwokolo has attended several seminars and symposia where he presented papers on Finance and Taxation. He is a member of the International Fiscal Association. In September 1979, he attended the 33rd Congress ofthe I.F.A. in Copen hagen,Denmark,asa member ofthe British delegation. Mr. Ike Nwokolo is the current chairman of the Enugu and District Society ofthe Institute ofChartered Accountants of Nigeria. Until his recent appointment, Mr.Nwokolowas a Senior Partner in the International firm ofMessrs Akintola Williams and Co. Chartered Accountants and also partner in the firm ofMessrsTouche RossInternational,CharteredAccoun tants. He wasin charge of the firm's operations in the Eastern States of Nigeria and in East and Southern Africa. Itwillbe recalledthatin1976, Mr. Nwokolo was appointed the Commis sioner for Finance and Economic Development of Anambra Stateby the Military Governor, Col. J. Atom Kpera But he was unable to take up the appointment because his firm could not find a suitable replacement for him in Swaziland to whichthey were providingtechnicalassistance. Mr. Nwokolo who is awell-known society man, is the Director ofInter national Services of the Rotary Club of Enugu; Treasurer, Enugu Sports Clubs; National Auditor,D.M.G.S.Old Boys Association; Auditor, the Paro chial CommitteeofAllSaints Church, Enugu and member, Ukpor Improve ment Union. In his school days, Mr. Nwokolo wasalongdistancerunnerandhe isa lover ofclassicalmusic. He is married to a teacher, Mrs. Chike Nwokolo, daughter of the late Mr. D.D.Onyemelukwe,a business tycoon of Aba fame. The couple has a son.
