Obegolu is a brilliant Lawyer of repute, a woman of excellence who gives her total commitment to anything she embarks upon, which is directly responsible for her excelling in whatever she does. By this attribute she rose to become Director of Protocol in the Anambra State Government Service and was later to attain the status of first woman Director of Protocol in Nigeria. A former National Commissioner with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). She will be remembered for her tremendous contributions towards a peaceful conduct of elections by INEC in 1999. Anambra Slate Judiciary 1987 • Director of Protocol. Anambra State Gov eminent 1994-1995. National Commissioner. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) 1998-2005 Special and National Assignments • At the Electoral Commission she was the Chair person. Legal Services Committee which placed her in charge of all laws and guidelines made by the commission for the smooth conduct oflhe Transitional Elections of 1999. • She served also as member of the following Committees at INEC: Information/Publicity Committee. Field Services. Electoral Process and Training Committee: Senior Staff Establishment Committee: Finance and General Purpose Committee. • Chairman. Panel of Investigation of INEC Offices in Akwa-Ibom and Osun States • Chairman. Panel of Investigation into allegations of wrongful dismissals at INEC Office in Anambra State. • At the International level, her elections monitoring ability is unprecedented. She monitored elections in South Africa, Uganda and the USA very well that these brought credit and honour to Nigeria. For instance, in Uganda the monitoring team she headed performed so well that the Head of the Uganda Electoral Commission wrote a letter of Commendation to INEC and to Nigeria. • She also monitored the Mexican Elections held in July 2000. October 2000. Awards Prizes and Honours • A Government Scholarship award as a mark of her academic excellence Letter of Commendation by Head of Uganda Electoral Commission. Awarded a "Souvenir of Honour" by Government Chinwoke Mbadinuju for her excellent public performance and being a good ambassador of Anambra State 2000 • A Distinguished Merit award by Prince Henna Ikegwaonu Chairman of Anaocha LG for her invaluable contribution to the development of her Local Government • Honoured with the Doctor of Philosophy (Honoraries Causa) by the Trinity College and University. De-Laware USA • Awarded a Certificate of Friendship by the Nigerian 2000 Institute of Public Relations. Anambra State Chapter 2000 • Honourd with a Distinguished Merit Award by the Prestigious West Africa Magazine Co. 2001 • Golden Mother award by Holy Catholic Trinity Parish, Maitama Abuja, 2005 • A Certification of Recognition by the University of Nigeria Ahumni Association. Awka Branch. 1999. • Conferred wilh the following Chieftaincy titles: "Adadioramma" of Adazi Nnukwu, 1998; "Ada Adazi". 1999 Lolo Ome Kadiya" (I lighesl title bestowed on a woman so far by the Igwe-in Council of Obeledu) 2000: "Ada Igbo Gburugburu" by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
