Eberechukwu (NPP) was born on July 1 1941 at Orogwe, Umunwoha in Owerri Local Government Area. He was educated at C.M.S. Central School, Orogwe 1947-50; Christ Church School, Owerri, 1951-53; Yaba Technical Institute, Lagos, 1955-59; University of Nigeria, Nsukka, 1966-72; and University of Lagos 1974-75. He holds B.Sc. Hons. (Business Administration), Final of the Corporation of Secretaries and Advanced Marketing and Consultancy Diploma. He was schedule officer, advertising department, Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation, 1959-66; Lagos area manager for North Brewery Ltd., Kano, 1972 - April 1975; Senior Market Research and Development Officer, Nigeria Airways, May 1975-77; marketing manager, R.T. Briscoe Nigeria Limited, Lagos, 1978. He held this post till he retired to contest the 1979 elections into the Imo State House of Assembly. Mr. Obikwere is married and has children. He believes in respect for individuals, love and humility.
