Charles Odibo is a Marketing Communications Practitioner with distinguished career in Journalism (print & electronic), Public Relations, Brand Building and rose to the position of Deputy General Manager (DGM) in the nation’s banking industry. Pioneer Head of Corporate Affairs, Standard Trust Bank (now UBA); Pioneer Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications at Platinum Bank/Bank PHB (now Keystone Bank); and Divisional Head of Brands & Communications at Fidelity Bank, he led the team that executed Fidelity Bank’s first ever brand health study which result showed quantitative Top Of Mind Awareness (TOMA) against competition; and delivered the remarkable 2015 brand refreshment of the then 27 year old Bank. Under his leadership as Divisional Executive, Marketing & Corporate Communications, Bank PHB was easily the most awarded Bank for changing the shape and tone of strategic marketing and communications in corporate Nigeria. Some of the multiple awards for brilliant accomplishments included NTA Advert of the year 2007; SERA Best Bank in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) award in 2007; Most Voted Company as having the Best CSR Programme in Nigeria in 2008; Best Bank in support of secondary education in Nigeria, 2008; and Nigeria’s Most Innovative Bank, 2008 Bankers’ Award. Also in 2010, the Bank emerged top 10 in KPMG Banking Industry Customer Satisfaction Survey, which measures customer confidence and trust, noting that the third leading reason for maintaining banking relationship among retail and corporate customers is “image and reputation” Charles Odibo had garnered considerable experience in the print and electronic media as Reporter, Features Writer, Editor, TV Producer, and Presenter, respectively before joining the banking industry to pursue a career in strategic communications and marketing. He holds Masters Degrees in Business Administration (MBA) from Enugu State University of Technology (ESUT) and Public Relations (M.Sc) from University of Nigeria, Nsukka. A product of the Harvard Business School’s Executive Education Programme; Management School, London; and the Lagos Business School, he has attended other off-shore and on-shore training programmes in his three decades career in journalism, strategic marketing and corporate communications.
