Ms Azuka Ogo is a distinguished Maritime Law expert, dedicated Minister of God who in both ways is impacting positively on the lives of many that she comes across and turning the shipping business in Nigeria into a more viable Industry. With zeal, commitment, and national interest she has demonstrated that her appointment as the Secretary of Cargo Defence Fund and Head. Cargo Defence Services was not a fluke as positive changes have manifested so far in the Industry. Her drive for excellence in all her undertakings is characterized by integrity, humility and hard work.

(LL.B). 1979. • Barrister At-Law(B.L). 1980 • Certificate of Proficiency in French 1986 • Masters of Law (LL.M) in International Maritime Law with Distinction 1992. • Certificate of Proficiency in Computer 1994 Academic Research Work • Diligently and successfully carried out a research on the following topic: "Draft Legislation on Maritime Fraud", 1992; "Concept of Seaworthiness in Maritime Law", 1992; The Cargo Defence Fund", 2002.
Work Experience and Employment History • Started out as a National Youth Corper and Served with the Lagos State ministry of Justice and the 4th Division Nigeria Army (Legal Office) where she has involved in Civil Litigation and convening of Court Marshals 1980-1981 • Worked as State Counsel and Assistant Legal Adviser Federal Ministry of Justice, where she was involved in Defence of Civil Matters, Prosecution of Tax Evaders, Drug Traffickers. Arsonists etc, and in Criminal Matters generally 1981-1988. • Then transferred Services to Nigerian Shippers Council as a Zonal Manager for 5 States of the Federation as well as involved in all aspects of legal work, General and Maritime Law of the Council.. • Currently, the Secretary or Chief Executive Officer of Cargo Defence Fund and also Head of Cargo Defence Services. Cargo Defence Fund is an autonomous Agency under the Nigerian Shippers Council. She oversees the affairs of this Agency National Responsibilities At present, as the Secretary of Cargo Defence Fund and Head, Cargo Defence Services, she is serving her fatherland in the following capacities: • Giving Legal Opinion on Matters affecting Shipping Industry, Nationally and Internationally • Advising Government on the implications of International Conventions relating to the Shipping Industry of Nigeria. • Negotiation of Freight rates with Shipping Lines on behalf of Nigerian Shippers. • Representing the Federal Government at diplomatic conferences convened bodies such as the International Maritime Organization (I.M.O.), International Oil Compensation Fund (IOPC FUND), Union of African Shippers' Council (UASC), African Union (AU) and Ministerial Conference for West and Central Africa (MINCONMAR) now MOWCA • Serving on Committees set up by the Federal Government on issues affecting the Maritime Transport Sub-sector. • Giving legal advice on Matters Concerning Shippers generally • Representing the Council at Expert/Technical/Legal Meetings and administrative functions at Zonal and National levels • Handling Shippers' Complaints Special Assignments Undertaken • Member, Task Force on Miscellaneous Offences Tribunal • Member, Nigerian Team on the drafting of Bilateral Agreements between Nigeria and Korea, Angola and Ghana. • Member, Committee on National Seminar on the reification of MARPOL 73/78 • Member, Committee on the Review of Nigeria's Shipping Policy • Member, Committee on Manpower Development in the Maritime Industry of Nigeria • Member, Nigerian Delegation to the International Maritime Organization • Member, Nigerian Delegation to the International Oil Pollution Compensation Fund Meeting • Member, Special Committee on the Review and harmonization of the Constitution of the Union of African Shippers' Council. • Member, Nigerian Delegation to the Organization of African Unity Conference on Maritime Transport. • Resource Person at various Seminars and Workshops • Drafted Nigeria's Regulations on Local Shipping Charges Membership of Professional Associations • Member, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) • Member, International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) • Was once a member, Women In Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Contributions Towards Community Development • Actively involved in the Provision of Portable Water, Electricity, sinking of Boreholes and tarring of Roads in the whole of FESTAC Area of Lagos • A stabilized philanthropist, provided financial assistant to indigent student for their education as well as rehabilitation of women who had been involved in prostitution and needed financial aid and to set up small business of their own. Religious Activities She is Ordained Minister of God, Redeemed Christian Church of God where she serves God and Save Souls as Assistant Pastor. Awards and Prizes Honoured with I.M.O Prize for Best Maritime Legislative Drafting Project, and many other awards undisclosed. Her Hobbies include, Aerobics, Swimming and has as her Role Model, Jesus Christ because, he is the Savior of the World Her advice to Igbo Youths; "Seek and Serve God, and work hard for a living" To Igbo Leadership; "pray for harmony and mutual respect and to choose leaders whom they can encourage and co-operate with ".
