COMMISSIONER FOR SPORTS YOUTH AND SOCIAL WELFARE was bom to Pa David Ogunyimika and Madam Ruth Olariboyasi Ogunyimka (both deceased) at Atosin-Idanre onJune 20. 1933. He attended Alade/Atosin United Primary School from 1943 to 1950, * and obtained the First School Leaving Certificate. He also had his secondary education at Ibadan Boys' High School ' ' between 1951-1952; and Benin Boys' _ High School from 1953 to 1955. ^ Mr. Ogunyimika began his working career in thethen Western Region Civil < Service which he joined as a treasury clerk in 1956. He rose to the position * of a cashier in 1957 andtransferred to the engineering arm of the Civil Ser vice in 1959 as a Civil Engineering Assistant. He was later promoted to the post ofaSenior Building Inspector Mr Ogunyimika became an Assistant Town Planning Officer in 1960 and held this position for four years before leaving the service in 1964. Mr Ogunyimika has since devoted much of his time to the service of his - people in the political arena and his admirers see him as the strongman of -0 ngba, in Akoko South Local Govern ment area, was born on February 14, 1931 to Mr Samuel Adefarati and Mrs Comfort Adefarati. umei Aaeiarati started schooling at the Holy Trinity School, Akungba in 1941 and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1948. He later had his secondary educa tion at Victory College, Bcare-Akoko between 1949 and 1954. He attended the University College, Ibadan from 1958 to 1961 and obtai ned the Bachelor of Arts Degree of the University of London. Chief Adefarati went back to the Universityof Ibadan in 1964 and after another session, was awarded the Post Graduate Diploma in Education. He is a man with wide experience. He worked as Assistant Teacher at St. Paul's Primary School, Arigidi-Akoko from January to August 1955,before taking up appointment as a Gerk at the Accountant-General's office, Iba dan, from September 1955 - January 1958. Chief Adefarati then returned to the teaching profession where he had a continuous service until August 1979, interrupted only by periods of study. His return to teaching began with his appointment as an Assistant Tutor in his Alma Mater, Victory College, Bcare, from January to September 1958. After graduating, he served as a tutor at Kiriji Memorial College, Igbajo and in 1966, was appointed Principal of George Burton Memorial College, - Ilesa. Idanre politics. He has contested elec tions twice and won resoundingly on his own merit on one of theoccasions, and once on the platform of the for mer Action Group. His first thrust at national political office was in 1964 when he won a seat in the House of Representatives which he retained until the Army take-over in January 1966. Again in 1976, fol lowing the Local Government reforms, Mr. Ogunyimika contested and won a seat on personal merit in the newlyestablished Idanre/Ifedore Local Go vernment and was appointed Supervi sory Councillor with responsibility for Education. He had demonstrated his interest in educational development a few years earlier when he founded Ebun Ogunimika Comprehensive High School "^ Atosin-Idanre, which has continued to train scores of future leaders under State Adnunistration. He retained his seat in Idanre/- Ifedore Local Govemment until he resigned to devote his full attention to the preparations of his party, the Unity Party of Nigeria, for the general elections which preceded the handing over of power by the Army to a civi lian administration on October 1, 1979. His hobbies are driving, travelling and sports.
