- Olaopa was conferred the National Productivity Award in 2015 by President Muhammadu Buhari alongside ten other distinguished Nigerians.[10] He was honoured with the Thabo Mbeki Award for Public Service and Scholarship in early 2018 at the closing ceremony of the Africa conference at University of Texas at Austin.[11] In July 2018, he was made a Professor of Public Administration at Lead City University, Ibadan, Nigeria
