UKPONG, EMMANUEL (DR.) was born in Iwukem in Akwa Ibom State on December 23, 1942. He attended Primary School, Iwukem, 1949—55, Government College, Umuahia, 1955—62 and College of Medicine, University of Lagos, 1963 to 1968. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), Edinburgh in 1975. Dr. Ukpong did a short service as a medical officer with the 3 Brigade of the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army during the civil war. He is the Medical Director, Asaku Specialist Clinic, Ikot Ekpene. He is marrried with five children. His hobbies are photography, reading and gardening.
