NPP) is from Ope viUage, Okigwe, in the Isuikwuato/ Okigwe Local Government Area. He was bom on November 11, 1935, at Ogoja, in Cross River State. He attended St. Mary's School, Port-Harcourt, 1939-1943; St. Patrick's CoUege, Ikot Ansa, Calabar, 1944 - 1947. He taught at Holy Family College, Abak, 1947-1948, before taking to active trade unionism. In 1950, Mr. Ikoro became the Foreign Relations Secretary, Nigerian National Federation of Labour. From 1954 - 1958, he was the Theoretician of the Convention People's Party (C.P.P.) of Ghana. From 1959 - 1961, he was Secretary for Organisations, Nigerian Labour Party, and for about 18 years he was the executive secretary, Independent United Labout Congress. Mr. Ikoro is interested in lawn and table-tennis, soccer, and art. He is married. He believes in the equality of man.
