SirAbubakarTafawa Balewa in 1951 as the World Bank granted Nigeria Loans for the Kainji Dam. Alhaji Yahaya Dikko became the first General Manager, when the Electricity Corporation of Nigeria. ECN was merged with the Niger Dams Authority and served in the capacity between 1972 and 1979. From 1980 be served Nigeria as the Presidential Adviser on Petroleum and Energy and was there until the Shehu Shagari administration was toppled in 1983. While serving as Presidential Adviser the erudite engineer was President of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries OPEC. He was known to be competent, incorruptible, tolerant understanding and is remembered as one of the finest Civil Servants Nigeria ever produced. He died in London on the 1/ of November1991.
