NWANKWO, Nkem

born on. June 12, 1936, in Nawfia-Awka, Anambra State; Schools attended: King's College, Lagos; University College, Ibadan, 1959 to 1962; Qualification: B. A. (English); Appointments held: Taught English at the Ibadan Gram mar School; "Daily Times"; in 1962 Nkem Nwankwo was awarded the short story prize of the Lagos Branch of the Nigerian Arts Council for his story "The Gambler". This event marked the beginning of his career as a writer. He wrote books for children, "Tales out of School", and "More Tales Out of School", a novel "Danda" was later transformed into a successful play.
