UMAR, Prof Ibrahim Musa

scientific paper in 1995. In 1991, Professor Umar was appointed Head of Materials Science and Development section of the Centre and became the Director of centre in 1998. He was the Director for eight (8) years. Under his leadership the first Research Nuclear Reactor was installed and commissioned in Nigeria. this put the country on the world map as a country with a Nuclear Research Reactor which led to the then Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Dr. Mohammed El Baradei to visit Nigeria and the Centre. Professor Umar was also at the Energy Commission of Nigeria as Director Nuclear Science and Technology, from 1st November, 2006- 30th October, 2007. He becmne the Deputy Vice - Chancellor, Gombe State University from 2009-2014. And in September 2014 Professor Ibrahim Musa Umar, OON became the Vice Chancellor of Gombe State University. Professor Ibrahim Musa Umar a widely travelled scholar has attended numerous conferences, seminars and workshops on Energy and Nuclear related International events organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Vienna, Austria and other related bodies.
