Yaú said that the National Assembly's Joint Committee on Constitution Review, of which he is a member, was considering giving the third tier of government in Nigeria budgets independent of the state governments. The goal would be to ensure that funding for local projects was used for the intended purpose. In the 9 April 2011 elections, Yaú ran for re-election as Zamfara North Senator, this time on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) platform.
