LADAN-BAKI, Alhaji (DR.) Othman

1962 to 1976 and served on various committees of the Institution among which were: Appointmentandpromotion, finance and' Generalpurposes, Tenders Board, Honourary Degree, and the Board of Governors of the Institute of Health. He was also a memberof the Northern House of Assembly Concurrently from 1951 to 1966. He was Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Trade and Industry inNorthern Nigeriafrom 1955 to 1956 and Minister of Trade, Northern Nigeriain 1965. In 1966,AlhajiLadan-Baki was appointeda memberof the 'The Leadersof Thought" anda delegate to the Lagos Ad-hoc Conference on the Constitution of Nigeria. He was in the sameyear a member of "Consultative Committee " to the Military Government and chairmanof the Boundary Commissionof Northern Nigeria. He held five executive posts of Commissionersfor Education, Economic Planning, Trade, Industry and Co-operatives and Agriculture andNaturalResourcesin theformer North Central State Government atvarious times between 1967to 1975 before he becamea Commissionerin the Federal Civil Service Commissionin August 1975. In July 1982 he was appointed the first Chairman of the newly established National Assembly Service Commission. In November 1987 he was appointed Chairman Emergency Relief Agency, Katsina State. In 1989, he was appointed Chairman, Nigerian Pilgrims Commission. Whilst in 1991, he was appointed member Emirate Council. InApril 1992, he was appointed Governor National Judicial Institute. In August, 1998 he was appointed asa Commissioner in the Independent NationalElectoral Commission (INEC). He was awarded the OFR by the Federal Government in 1964 in recognition of his Commitment to meritorious service to the country.Andin 1976, theABU Zaria conferred on him the Honorary DoaorofLawDegreeLLB.
