After the coup and as a trustworthy man with considerabk experience he was appointed Secretary of MubiNA and later Councilkr for Finance and Works. He was much later appointed Honourabk Commissioner of Establishment and later Heakh in the then North Eastern State of Nigeria. He was an active member of the then NationalParty of Nigeria. (NPN) and served as the Chairman Presidential Team NPN MuM Senatorial distria in 1993. He ako served as Chairman, Governing Council, Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria, Member, Governing Council, Colkge of Education, Hong, Member, Gongola State Arts Council; Adviser, Jama'atul Nasril Islam of Nigeria, Patron, Bekl Devekpment Association, Chairman, FundRaising/Member, Board of Trustees, Mubi Local Government Development Appeal Fund, Member, Federal Government Visitation Panel on Land Dispute in Jalingo-Muri, Taraba State (then Gongola State). Dauda Bekl was a Direaor with Cbristela Cbemual Works Ltd, I^agos a company that was a major importer of chemicak and laboratory / hospital equipment. He was the recipient of a National award in 1979 when he was honoured with the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), Dauda Bekl who was known to be generous and trustworthy died on Wednesday 3(f September, 1987 at the Yola Specialist Hospital after a brief illness.
