Essien Eyo ASUQUO

was born on May 1, 1923 at Diamond Hill, Calabar, Cross River State. His parents, the late Chief Esien Eyo Etinyin Eyo, a trader, and Mrs. Ansa Eyo both of Creek Town, Calabar had three children. Honourable Eyo started and ended his education at Hope Weddell Training Institution, Calabar from 1932-1943. For four years, he taught at the Ikpe Ikot Nkum School, Later, he joined the U.A.C. as a probationary Accounts Clerk and rose to the post of Assistant African Manager in 1955. In 1968, he was appointed Price Control Officer with the Ministry of Trade and Industry in the then South Eastern State. In 1976, he started politics from the grass roots by being elected as councillor for Ward 16, Calabar Municipality. On several occasions, he served in the municipality as member or chairman of com mittees especially those connected with educa tion.
