ABBA, Prof. Alkasum

Prof. Alkasum Abba was born on 20th May, 1953 at Yola Town. He hails from Yola, the Capital City of Adamawa State of Nigeria. Prof. Alkasum, is happily married and was blessed with six children. Prof. Alkasum, attended the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he read BA (Combined Hons) History and Government and graduated in 1977. He had his MA and PhD History at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria and graduated from 1985 and 2000 respectively. He was also a non – Degree research Student School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London for a period of one year, 1989 – 1990. He started his working experience at ABU as a Graduate Assistant, History Department from 1978 and rose to a reader in 2004. During his stay at ABU he taught and supervised both Undergraduate and Post Graduate students. He has successfully supervised three (3) PhD students, six (6) MA students and many undergraduate students. He is an External Examiner University of Abuja from 2004 and Bayero University Kano from 2009 to date respectively In addition, he has written twelve books and over forty (40) publications. He also has routine Administrative duties both in the University and the Nation. Prof. Alkasum ABBA is a vastly experienced Administrator. He was appointed the Sole Administrator Adamawa State University, Mubi on 10th October, 2007, by the Visitor, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State Dr. Murtala Hamman-Yero Nyako. Due to his hard work, vision and commitment to the development of the University, the State and the Country at large, Dr. Abba, was appointed the VICE CHANCELLOR, of the University, on 7th October, 2009. His routine Administrative duties include the smooth running of the University, teaching, research and community service.
