MHA, O.B.E OON NORTHERN MINISTER OF ANIMAL HEALTH, FORESTRY ANDNORTHERN CAMEROONS. Danburanjada was bom in 1924 in Nasarawajada in the then Trust Territory of Northern Cameroons. Before the age of nine, he hadcompletedallthe basics ofArabicandIslamicEducation. ThereafterDanburanjada was enrolledat the Yola Primary Schoolin 1937atthe age of thirteen. From where heproceeded to Yola Middle Schoolin 1940andcompletedthe courseof study in 1944. Danburanjada workedwith the thenAdamawaNA in 1944,forten years. He waspioneerstudent of the Samaru Schoolof Agriculturefrom 1948 to 1952, and became Supervisor of Agriculturein the theAdamawaNA. Heservedin the capacityuntil 1955when he wasappointedtheDistriaHeadof Jada. Danburanjadajoinedpoliticsandgot eleaedinto theNorthern House ofAssemblyfrom 1956to 1960. Heheld thepost of RegionalMinister in the Ministries of Animal Health, Forestry andNorthem CameroonsAffairs and official Representative of the Northern Cameroons in the Northern Region. Heparticipated in all the constitutional conferences heldin Lagos andLondon between 1957 and 1960. Afterindependences Danburanjada hadhisfirst appointment as apart-time Commissionerin the Northern Nigeria CivilService Commission from Oaober 1960 to September 1961. Subsequently, he was elevatedto afulltime commissioner, aposthe heldtill 1968, Chairman, Public Service Commission for the North-Eastern State from April 1968 to November, 1975; Public Complaints Commissioner in charge of' theNorthEastern Statefrom 1975to 1979;PublicComplaints Commissionerin charge of Adamawa Statefrom 1979 to 1981, when he resigned with the intention of enjoying quiet retirement. But, inanation with adeclining number of experienced, corruptionfreepublic servants, the likes of Danburanjada are hardly ever allowedto enjoy any retirement. In 1982, he was appointedamemberof the Bayero University Governing Council. In 1984, he was elevated to thepost of Chairman of the Council. He was also Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, untilJune 1993. DanburanJada also servedas a memberof thePoliceSelection Board, theNorthern Nigeria ScholarshipsBoard andthe Regional Committee of the WestAfrican Examinations Council In recognition of his immense service to his country and humanity, Danburanjada has received severaloutstanding awards. These include the Orderof the British Empire (OBE)from theQueen of England, the Order of the Niger (OON) by the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the degree of Doaorof Laws (LLD), (Honoris Cansa) by the Bayero University, Kano and the Federal University of Technology, Owerri in 1989and1991 respectively.
