was appointed the General Secretary of the NPC. Alhaji Ahman Galadiman Pategi was so strong in the Party that no opposition was ever recorded in elections featuring his name. Alhaji Ahman was appointed Minister in the North's Cabinet of 1959 1966, and posted to the Ministry of Agriculture. After the coup of 1966, he was appointed Kwara State Commissionerfor Home Affairs and Information and Chairman of the State 'sArts Council. He also served the Pategi Local Government in various capacities. At a time he was Chairman of the Board of Directors, Kwara State Printing and Publishing Corporation. Prior to that he had been Secretary to the Etsu of Pategi and Chief Scribe, Education, Manpower and Councillor for Education. It was in that position that he stepped up the campaign on the importance of Western education among his people. He was an old war horse who kept serving the country until his death on the 17 th of July, 1977 in a London Hospital.
