Hon. Alhaji Hassan Muhammed was born in 1928 at Jama'are, his home town, in Bauchi State. His parents are Mallam Muhammed the Emir of Jama'are and Hajiya Fatima. A muslim by religion, Alhaji Hassan Muham med is one of the twelve children of his father. His mother, Hajiya Fatima, has six children. Alhaji Muhammad has two wives, Hajiya Dada Gana and Hajiya Dada Gado. He got mar ried to them in 1947 and 1956 respectively. He is himself a father of eighteen children. He attended the following educational in stitutions: Elementary School, Jama'are (1935 - 1939); Middle School, Bauchi (1939 - 1943); Elementary Training College, Bauchi (1943 - 1946); Higher Teacher Training Col lege, Katsina(1951 - 1952); University of Edin burgh, Scotland (1957-- 58), and A.S.T.C. Zaria (1959- 1960). Alhaji Muhammad has the following educa tional and professional qualifications:- Teachers Certificate Grade III (1946); Teachers Certificate Grade II (1952); Teachers Certificate for Tropical Africa Diploma (1958). He was a headmaster of boarding school in Bauchi in 1957, and an Assistant District Officer in 1960. He rose to the rank of District Officer in 1963, and a Principal District Officer in 1968. In 1973, he was made a Deputy Permanent Secretary, and from 1973 to 1975, he worked as a Provincial Secretary. Alhaji Muhammad was a school master from 1946 to 1959 during which he taught in various schools from primary institutions to colleges. He also worked as an administrative officer. He turned a businessman after retiring from service in 1975. The countries he has visited include the United Kingdom, Italy, Saudi Arabia and France. He takes interest in table tennis and scrabble. Alhaji Muhammad won a seat in the House of Representatives on the ticket of the National Party of Nigeria in the Jama'are — Disina Con stituency of Bauchi State.
