Alhaji M. S. Aliyu was born on the 10th of June 1938 at Shafa Abakwa, his home town, in Plateau State. / Alhaji Aliyu is a muslim. He is one of the nine children of his father, Alhaji Seze Aliyu Adochi, a farmer. His mother Hajiya Fati Aliyu has three children. He has four wives. They are Hajiya Fatima Aliyu, Hajiya Hauwawu Aliyu, Hajiya Hadiza Aliyu'and Hajiya Zainab Aliyu, all of whom were married in 1961, 1970, 1972 and 1976 respec tively. He is a father of sixteen children. He attended primary school from 1946 to 1953 He also attended the Produce Training School, Lokoja, from April to December 1974. Alhaji Aliyu has his primary school certificate and salesmanship diploma. He studied Elementary Book-Keeping and Accountancy at the Staff Development Centre in Kaduna from 1967 and 1968. He worked as a cotton examiner from January 1955 to April 1964. He was promoted to the position of Produce Examiner, a post which he held from August. 1959 to April 1964. He also served in the follow ing capacities: Sales Supervisor with T, Kahale £r Co., Kaduna (1965-68); Commercial Assistant Ce ment Company, Sokoto (1969-72) Sales Representatives with Turners Building Com pany, Kaduna (1973-76). He was engaged in sales, store management and agriculture from 1955 to 1976. From 1977 to 1979 Alhaji Aliyu was selfemployed as a business contractor. Alhaji Aliyu has visited Saudi Arabia, Britain and Niger Republic. He takes interest in football and travelling. He won a seat in the House of Represen tatives on the ticket of the Nigerian Peoples Party and represents Nasarawa Constituency, Plateau State.
