Alhaji Maina Waziri, the third son of the late Emir of Fika, Alhaji Muhammadu Ibn Idrissa was born at Potiskum in 1920. He started his early education at the Central Primary School Potiskum from 1929-1932UndMaiduguri Middle School from 1034-1941. Maina Waziri proceeded to the Borno Agricultural Training School in 1941 and later attended Clerical Train ing College, Zaria, 1949-50 and Deve lopment Secretary course in 1959. A great statesman, Maina Waziri entered the Political Arena as far back as 1943 when he joined the Nigerian Youth Movement (NYM) and later became President of North East Convention Peoples Party (NECPP) in 1956. In 1957,he became Fika Divisional President of the Nigerian Peoples Con gress (NCP) and was elected member of House of Representative. He was re-elected into the House of Representative in 1960 and became Parliamentary Secretary in the Tafawa Balewa regime in 1964 from where he ^ retired to farming after the Military ' take-overon 15th January, 1966.
