He started his educational pursuitin 1928 when hejoinedKa^aureJunior Primary School and Kano Middle Schoolin1935which he leftin 1940. Alhaji Muhammadufelt he was popular enough to contest election to represent hipeopleso he declared his candidature and was lucky to win the seat of the Northern House of Assembly in 1961 under the platform of NPC the Northern Party of the time. He was appointed Provincial Commissioner, Borno Province based on conviction by the Sardauna administration that Alhaji Muhammadu was quite competent to steer Borno out of the troubled water.
