Abba Gana
was born in 1943 at Damboa. An Engineer by profession, Alhaji Muhammed Abba Gana has his pri mary education at Damboa Junior Primary School from 1952-55, and later attended Yerwa Boarding Senior Primary School from 1956-58. He then proceeded to Government Col lege, Zaria in 1959, where he obtained his West African School Certificate (WASC)in 1963. Between 1964 and 1965, Alhaji Muhammed Abba Gana was at Okene Secondary School to acquire Higher School Certificate (HSC), and in Octo ber 1965, he gained admission into Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria,where he read Engineering, and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree (B.Sc. Elec trical Engineering) in June 1969. He also undertook Industrial Train ing Course in Electrical Engineering in United Kingdom from 1971-73; and attended a Planning Studies Course at Ibadan University for the Third Natio nal Development Plan (August to September 1973). In December 1974, he went to the United Kingdom for further Industrial Training. In April 1977,he undertook a study course of Water and PowerDevelopment Autho rity of Pakistan. From January to March 1978, he attended a course in supply and Mate rials Management in Brighton, England In September 1978, he visited the State of Illinois in the United States to see Farm Progress Show. Alhaji Muhammed Abba Gana also visited France, Egypt, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Singapore,. Phillippines, Chad, Cameroun and Niger Republic on various official duties. He was with the State Ministry of Works and Hous ing from 1969-74. Before his appoint ment as Borno State Commissioner for Works and Housing, Alhaji Muhammed Abba Gana, was the acting Chief Electrical Engineer of Chad Basin De velopment Authority in Maiduguri. An Associate member of the Insti tute of Electrical Engineers ofU.K., he is also a registered member of the Institute of Mateirals Handling of the United Kingdom. Alhaji Muhammed Abba Gana is married with five sons. His interests lies in reading, philo sophy, politics, economics, cosmology and theology, as well as watching all athletic activities and games.
