Alhaji Omar Lawan, member of the House of Representatives from Maiduguri was born on September 24th, 1932 at Maiduguri in Borno State. He attended the Yerwa Elementary School from 1937 to 1942. Borno Middle School from 1942 - 1946. After his elementary school, he went to the Kaduna College from 1946 to 1949 and the Barewa College from 1949 to 1950. After his Senior College education, he went to the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, U.K. He also attended the School of Infantry, Teshi, Ghana in 1950and the Eaton Hall Officer Cadet School U.K. Alhaji Omar Lawan posesses the Senior Cambridge School Certificate and military diplomas from the School of Infantry, Teshi, the Eaton Hall Officer Cadet School, and the Royal Military Academy., London. From 1956 to 1958, he was an Assistant District Officer for the former Northern Region and from 1963 to 1973, he was the Chief Preventive Superintendent of Customs. He married his wife, Fatima in 1958 and they have two chidlren. He is a member of the Great Nigeria Peoples Party representing Kaga Constituency in the House of Representatives.
