Alhaji Saleh Maina was born in 19- 47 at Nguru in Nguru Local Govern ment Area of Borno State. He started his early education at Local Koranic School 1950-56. He then proceeded to Nguru Elementary School 1957-63, and also attended school for Arabic Studies, Maiduguri, 1964-67, where he was awarded Tea chers' Grade III Certificate. Alhaji Saleh also holds a professional Tea chers Grade II Certificate from Bauchi Teachers' College, 1970-72. Before his appointment as Commis sioner, Alhaji Saleh served as a teacher under Bomo Local Education Autho rity, 1968-70, and also taught at Go vernment Secondary School Nguru be tween 1973 and 1976. Thereafter, he resigned and went into business. He is married with four children - three sons and one daughter. His hobbies include Football, Table-Tennis and Badminton.
