Alhaji Sani Abubakar was born on the 10th of August, 1942 at Kazaure in Kano State. He is one of the seven children of Mallam Abubakar Sahabi - a civil servant, and Mallama Salamatu Abubakar Kazaure, a housewife, who has two of the children. Alhaji Sani Abubakar started his elementary education at Kazaure, from 1956 to 1958. He at tended the Gwarzo Government Technical School, Kano from 1959 to 1962 and later the Assistant Works Superintendent School Kaduna from 1966 to 1968. He went to England to study at theOverseas Management Institute London from June to December, 1978. Alhaji Sani Abubakar obtained his Federal Ministry of Labour Certificate Grade I (Elec trical) in 1963 and the Intermediate City and Guilds of London Institute in 1964. He obtained both the Assistant Works Superintendent Cer tificate, (Theory and Practical) in 1968. In 1978, he received the Advance Management Cer tificate. He was promoted to the post of Electrical Superintendent in 1971, Superintendent in 1973, Senior Superintendent in 1975 and Prin cipal Electrical Superintendentin 1977. Alhaji Sani Abubakar worked in the Ministry of Works and Housing, Kano State from 1962 to 1978. Apart from serving as a public officer, Alhaji Sani was an active trade unionist. He was the Kano State Chairman of Public Works Con struction and Technical Works Union from 1973 to 1976 and Kano State Chairman of the Civil Service Technical Workers Union - 1976 to 1978. In June 1978 he became the Deputy Nat.onal President of the Civil Service Technical Workers Union of Nigeria, a post he held till July 1979. He is married and has five children. Honourable Alhaji Sani Abubakar is a devout moslem. He has travelled widely and among the places visited are the Soviet Union, Niger Republic, Mali, Algeria, Germany, Egypt Lebanon, Cameroun and Saudi Arabia. He is much interested in reading, farming and horse riding. "' w Alhaji Abubakar won his seat in the House of Representatives on the platform of the People Redemption Party (PRP).
