Alhaji Shehu Yakubu Runka represents Safana Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives. He was elected under the um brella of the Great Nigeria Peoples Party. Alhaji Runka was born in 1932 at Runka in the Safana District of Kaduna State. He had his elementary education from 1940 —1943 and went to the Middle School from 1943-1948. He attended the Clerical Trainging College in Zaria from 1956-57. After further training from 1968 -- 1969, he undertook an Account and Audit course for Assistant Ex ecutive Officers from 1972 - 1973. Alhaji Runka has had varied experiences in local government administration. He was a district scribe from 1949 - 1952 and rose from this post to that of the Native Authority Central Administrator in 1952, a post he held until 1957 before being promoted Native Authority Assis tant Revenue Officer. He became the Finance Councillor of the Native Authority in 1960. Alhaji Runka transferred to the State Govern ment Serviceas Clerical Officer in 1970. He served in various units in the Ministry of Health and as an Assistant Executive Officer at the General Hospital, Dutsin-ma from 1974-1975. From 1975-1976, he was the Assis tant Divisional Officer to the Dutsin-ma Area. He also served as a staff officer from 1976-1979 at the Dutsin-ma local government area. Alhaji Runka is married to former Hajiya Hauwa Mariya. They have five children.
