MHA SARKIN FADAN KANO, OFR REGIONAL MINISTER OF WORKS, LOCAL GOVERNMENTS Hewas born inKano to the Village Headof Gaya in1925. AlhajiSule Gaya startedhiseducation in1934in Gaya Primary School. He was there till 1938 when heproceeded toKano Middle School. By 1943 he was already a PupilTeachertill 1947. To enhance hisposition inthe teachingprofession, he wentoKatsina to train asateacher, which he didin six months. Afterteachingfor anotheryear, he wentfor Higher Elementary Training in Katsina College and converted to Grade H. Between 1949and 1951, Sule's teaching career took off inearnest, when he took up appointment with the Kano Middle School. Between Oaober 1952and Oaober 1957, he was the Principalof Birnin Kudu SeniorPrimary School. Heleft teaching]corpolitics when he stoodforelection in the Gaya constituency into the House ofAssembly under theNPC. Hewon andwassubsequently appointedparliamentary Secretaryinthe InternalAffairsMinistry in 1957. Hispolitical careergota boost in 1960 when he was appointed Minister of State - acting MinisterforLocal Government. HegotthefullMinisterialPortfolio in 1961 afterwinning election unopposedinto the House again. First, he wasMinisterof WorksandlaterMinisterofLocalGovernmentallbetween 1961 and 1966. Like othersAlhajiSule Gaya went back home to Kano aftertheMilitary intervention ingovernance in1966. He wasfirstKanoNA. CouncillorforEstablishmentsandTraining later CouncillorforEducation. Earlieratthe heightof hispoliticalcareer, AlhajiSule Gaya was appointedthe Sarkin Fadan Kano in1965
