Hon K.E Amuga was also the first state Secretary of the Nigerian Peoples Party and represented the Alliance of Progressive Political Parties of the NPP, PRP GNPP and UPN to the regular meetings of the 12 Governors of Progressive Party Alliance PPA, which was co-chaired by RT Hon Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe, the first president of Nigeria and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the first premier of western Nigeria.

He was first elected Honorable member to represent the Tangale people now Gombe state on the ticket of Nigerian Peoples Party, NPP, in the Bauchi state House of Assembly as from 1979-1983. He also served as the minority leader in the House. Hon K.E Amuga was also the first state Secretary of the Nigerian Peoples Party and represented the Alliance of Progressive Political Parties of the NPP, PRP GNPP and UPN to the regular meetings of the 12 Governors of Progressive Party Alliance PPA, which was co-chaired by RT Hon Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe, the first president of Nigeria and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the first premier of western Nigeria.
