He was first elected Honorable member to represent the Tangale people now Gombe state on the ticket of Nigerian Peoples Party, NPP, in the Bauchi state House of Assembly as from 1979-1983. He also served as the minority leader in the House. Hon Keftin Amuga is a legendary Politician a noble man, a State man, a man with a lion’s heart for his people, a Philanthropist, a visionary leader and above all a devout Christian. He participated in politics at various times with the likes of RT Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe, Mallam Aminu Kano, Ibrahim Waziri, Gov Solomon Lar, Gov Abubakar Rimi, Gov Abubakar Barde, Chief Anthony Enahoro, Chief Paul Unongo, Lt Gen T.Y Danjuma, Gove Sulei Lamido, Sen Jerry Gana, Dr Bala Takaya, Gov Wilberforce Juta, Danmaikudi Kontong, Burga Lika, Peter Dantaro, Kawawa Galadima, Alhassan Kontong, Kadal Koduma, Tela Yusuf, Maryam Sodari, Mr Denejo, Daniel Alkali, James Dogori, Na’aman Amlekku, Shugaba Nagabas Todi, Baba Gadi Shela, and many more.

At the peak of his political career his competence and political dynamism was recognized by the organization of “Who is Who in African” and subsequently published his antecedent in its 1982 edition. Indeed his political relevance is beyond time in securing the future of our people.
