BUKAR Mallam Gana

The Borno State Commissioner for Economic Development Malam Bukar Gana was bom at Yerwa (another name for Maiduguri, the Bomo State capital) on 17th December, 1945. A Political Scientist by training, Malam Bukar Gana after his primary education attended Government (for mally Provincial) Secondary School Maidugurifrom 1959-63. He worked with the Department of Customs and Excise for seven years before he resigned and proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1973 where he obtained Bachelor of Science degree (Political Science) in 1977. Malam Bukar Gana occupied two remarkable posts with Herwa Group of Companies (an indigenous private company). Between 1975 and 1977, he was the Managing Director, Herwa Shipping and Clearing Services Ltd., Lagos, and thereafter became General Manager, Herwa Press Limited, Lagos, Publishers of the Nationalist - weekly newspaper. Before his appointment as Bomo State Commissioner for Economic Development, Malam Bukar Gana was Political Analyst for the Great Nige rian Peoples Party, (GNPP). Heis mar ried and likes reading.
