Bellius Obora
had his primary school education at St. David's School, Akure and his Secondary School Education at the Government College, Ibadanfrom 1944 to 1949. Chief Balogun proceeded to the Technical College at Yaba in 1950 from where he passed out with the Grades I and II trade test cer tificates in motor engineering as well as the Na tional Diploma Certificate in automobile engineering. As an external student of the University of London Institute of Motor Engineering, Chief Balogun bagged the University of London City and Guide Certificate in automobile engineer ing. Chief Balogun also attended a good number of in-service training courses both in Nigeria and abroad. Chief Balogun served in various Government departments for a period of 18 years. These in clude the then Ministry of Works and Transport (1951 —1953); the Engineering Division of the Ministry of Agriculture (1953-1961); the Ministry of Education (1961-1964); and finally, the Ministry of Agriculture (1964-1968). After leaving Government service in 1968, he worked with the Shell B.P. Nigeria Ltd., from 1968 to 1978. He was the head of the light vehi cle maintenance unit at the company's Ughelli Production Centre. Apart from working as a practising engineer in government departments and later at Shell B.P., Chief Balogun also served as technical in structor at the Government Trade Centre in Oyo, the Farm Mechanisation Centre in Agbadu near Warri and at the School of Agriculture in Akure. During the race to return the country to civil rule in 1979, Chief Balogun, from the Akoko Edo Constituency of Bendel State, contested and won elections on the Unity Party of Nigeria platform into the House of Representatives. Chief Balogun has travelled to Canada and Ghana. His hobbies include indoor games, table tennis and reading novels. A christian, Chief Balogun is married and has five children.
