DAJI FEDERAL MINISTER OF STATE, POLICE AFFFAIRS MA.O. Olanrewaju was bom in Omu aranof the old Ilorinprovince in 1916. He was late in going as he enrolled into the Omu aran Native Authority Elementary School only in 1931 and finished in 1936. He did further training of himself at home through the Distant Leaning Facilityfrom 1949 to 1951. MA.0. Olanrewaju wasa Foresterfor mostof his working life. He had been employed by the Ilorin Forestry department as an NA. Forest Guard since 1936 when he got his firstSchool LeavingCertificate and' became Foresterin 1944 andin 1945 he was promoted NA. ForestRanger. By the 1950 's he was already aCommunity Leader and member of the leading regionalparty the NPC. It was under the party that he contested and won election into the Federal House of Representativesfor Ilorin East and South in 1954;from which position he was later named Parliamentary Secretary. The climax of his political career was when he was named the Federal Minister of State in charge of Police Affairs in 1959. Early on he had been an Observer to the Nigeria Constitutional Conference in London in 1957. MA. Olanrewaju was the author of ORINAWON EIYE NIEDE YORUBA and publisher of the OLANREWAJUALMANAC. After the 1966 bloody coup that sacked their government, he returned home to become the patron of the Igbomina students Union, Offa Grammar School, Ilorin Secondary School, Omu aran Muslim Community School, Ilorin and member, C.M.S. Church Progressive Union. The community leader died in Omuraran in September 1968.
