Obihara attended the Government Col- ,ege Umuahia in 1940 and later Christ the King College (CKC Onitsha) from September 1940 to 19He attended the Higher College, Yaba from 1y94o5f L_ei1c9e4s7te.r,HEenwgalasndadfmroimtted19t5o2tthoe1U95n6ivearsn.d^ obtained a Bachelors degree in chemistry from th University in 1956. Dr Obinare.later pro ceeded to the Imperial College of Tope Agriculture, Trinidad in 1956, and quahf.ed as anHAessroetcuiarnteedmteomNbeigreorfiathaendbotdoyokinu1p95a8p.pontment as an Agriculture Research Officer m 1958 In 1961 he was promoted Senior Research Officer, Agricultural Chemistry and ^f^blnara was promoted Principal Research Officer in charge of Agricultural Research, Moor Plantation, Ibadan in 1963^ He again left for the University of Reading, England in 1966 to read for his doctorate degree. Three years later in 1969, he obtained a Ph D in Soil Chemistry. He also became an Associate member of the Royal Inst.tute of obtained his doctorate degree, he Went to the University of Sierra-Leone and was made a Senior Lecturer from 1969-1971. as Deputy Director of Agricultural Research in A19g7r1icualntudralwRaseseparorcmhoitned197F2e,daerpaol stDhireechteolrd otilfl ' Dr' Obihara served as the Chairman of the Agricultural Development Corporation, Imo State from 1977 to 1978. Dr Obihara has been a member of several boards in recent times. He was amember of the Board of Trustees, I.I.T.A., Ibadan and was at a time the Liaison Officer for Nigeria in the Commonwealth Agricultural Bureau, London. He was a member of the governing Councils of the Crops Research Institute of Nigeria, Ibadan, the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research, Benin, and the Institute of Agricultural Research, Samaru, Zaria. He married Anne Margaret Obihara in 1954 and they both have three children — two boys and a girl. Doctor Obihara has published nineteen books. He has also visited the U.K., U.S.A., Yugoslavia, Spain, India, Hong Kong, and Thailand to name a few. He is christian o\ the Roman Catholic denomination and spends his leisure playing lawn tennis, swimming, golf and gardening. He is a member of the Nigeria Peoples Party and represents Owerri South in the House of Representatives.
