DOKOTRI, Mr Patrick MP

SECRETARY GENERAL UMBC/AG ALLIANCE Mr Patrick Dokotri was bom in 1927 in Kurrafalls in the old Plateau province. He started his education at St. Patrick's Catholic School Kurra falls from 1932-1938 then went to St. Theresa Catholic SchoolJosfrom 1938 to 1939. He was at the Catholic Seminary Ibadan from 1940-1945, then Major Seminary, Benin City between 1945 and1946 Mr. Patrick Dokotri started work asa Forester with the Jos Native Administrationin 1946. He was theretillhe went to the UK in 1950 to do a course in Local Government under the aegis of the British Council. On his return he became the Administrative Secretary of theJos Local Administration and was also in chargeoftheNA Treasury. As one of the most enlightened people in his locality, his peopk koked up at himfor some sort of political kadership and guidance. From 1946to 1950 he was the Secretary Generalof the Birom Progressive Union. He became a memberof the United Middk Belt Congress of which he was Secretary General between 1950 and 1961. In between, as member of the UMBC be contested and won ekction into the Federal House of Representatives 1955 and was there fill 1959. From the House, he was made a Parliamentary Secretary between 1955 and 1956. He was also a dekgate to the London Constitutional Conference on Nigeriain1959. Though he was relieved of his duties as the Administrative Secretaryof the JosNA in September 1959,MrPatrick Dokotriis remembered as aforefront opposition kader of the Middk Belt who worked chsely with his party kadership to form aformidabk opposition tothe NPC After independence, he worked at the AmalgamatedTin Minesof NigeriaasLands Officerfrom 1964-1978. In the z Republic hejoined theNPP which won his Plateau State and he himself wona seat in the Houseof Assemblyfrom where he became the Majority Leader, from 1979 - 1983. After the nation wide ekctions of 1983, he was re-elected and this time he became the Speaker of the Plateau State Houseof Assembly.
