DORI, Mr. Olufemi

COMMISSIONER FOR WORKS AND TRANSPORT Mr. Olufemi Dori was born on October6,1933 at Ode-Ekiti to Chief Joel Bori (The Aremo of Ode-Ekiti) and Madam Marian Omojolagbe Ilori (nowdeceased). He attended Saint Mary's School, Ode-Ekiti from 1940 to 1945 and gained admission to Christ's School, Ado-Ekiti. Mr. Ilori was at Christ's School, Ado-Ekiti, from 1946 to 1951 when he passed outwith the Cambriage Sch ool Certificate. In 1955,he gained admission to the University College, Ibadan, where he graduated four years later with the Bachelor of Science Degree. Mr Ilori became an Associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surve yors of Great Britain in 1966 (ARICS) and in Jury 1979, was appointed a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors of Great Britain (FRICS). He hasbeenamember of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors since 1966. On leaving the University in 1959, Mr Ilori joined the Public Service of the then Western Region as an Assis tant Staff Surveyor, and proceeded on in-service training at the School of Military Survey at Newbury, England, graduating from this institution in 1961 with the award of a Diploma in Surveying. Back home, his new status was accorded recognition with promotion Bachelor of Science Degree and the Master and the Mater of Education Degree. Mr. Babatunde has worked as a teacher or headmaster at Oye-Ekiti, Iyin-Ekiti, Akure and Ilara. He has also served his community in other spheres. Hewas an Executive membei of the former Action Group in Ekiti in 1953. He was a Councillor in Ado Dis trict Local Council from 1961-1963; Chairman, Works Committee of Ado District Council (1962-1963) and Member of the Board of Governors of St. Louis' Grammar School, Ado-Ekiti in 1971. He was a member of the World Council for Curriculum and Instruc tion in 1975, a memberof OndoState Science Education Committee (1977- 1978) and a member of the Nigerian Science Teachers Association (1964- 1978). He was an Examiner for Grade Two Teachers' Certificate Examina tion and the Joint School Certificate and General Certificate of Education Examinations. He has been an Execu tive Member of the Ado-Ekiti Pro gressive Union since 1978. Mr. Baba tunde was Chairman of Ekiti South Science Workshop Planning Commit tee in 1977, and Executive Member of Central Unity Party of Nigeria 1978- 1979. He was elected a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly in July J979. He is married with children and his obbies include gardening, poultrykeeing, photography and reading. to the postof staff Surveyor. Mr Ilori rose to the position of Assistant Surveyor-General of the Western State in 1968, a post he held until 1975 when he retired from the service and went into the private sec tor as a Director of Pan African Sur veys Limited. He is a political activist and was elected a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly in the general elections held last July, a position he gave up as a result of his appointment as a State Commissioner. Mr Ilori has been a founding mem ber of the Board ofGovernors ofOde- Ekiti High School since 1968. He is married and has five children His hobbies include reading and table tennis playing.
