Minister ofWorks, was born on December 24, 1940 at Oron, Cross-River State. A product of King's College, Lagos, Professor Essang had his B.Sc. (Economics) degree from the University of Ibadan in 1964. He was awarded his Mas ter's and Doctorate degrees in Agri cultural Economics by the University of Michigan, USA. He was Head of the Department of Economics, Uni versity of Calabar (1976-1979) and the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the same University. Professor Essang was Minister of Finance before his present appoint ment. He is married and has three children.
