Mr. Shehu Mohammad Garki was born on December 12, 1952 in his home town, Garki, Kano State. He represents Garki Federal Constituency of the State in the Assembly. He started his education at Garki and Gidan Primary Schools from 1960-1965. Between 1966-1970, he attended Rumfa College, Kano for his W.A.S.C. and College of Education, Sokoto for the NCE (1971-1974). He read Mathematics and Computer Science and graduated in 1979 from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Garki Shehu also has an M.B.A. degree. He is now a banker, computer programmer and systems analyst. He is married with three children. His hobby is travelling.
