ROTIMI, Hon. Akintunde

Hon. Akintunde Rotimi (formerly Akin Silva) was born on the 25th of November, 1940 in Lagos. He is a native of Ayedun-Ekiti in Ekitio State. . . Hon. Rotimi is a Christian by religion and one of the 12 children of Mr. Daniel Rotimi, a building contractor. His mother, Madam Grace Rotimi is a trader. He got married to his wife Mrs. Modupeola Rotimi (nee Lamilisa) on the 7th of May 1977 and has two children. Hon. Rotimi attended the following educa tional institutions: Methodist School, Fiditi, Oyo State (1947-48); Methodist School, Igbo- Ora Ogun State (1949-51); Methodist School, Aye'dun-Ekiti, Ondo' State (1952-55); African Church Teacher Training College, Ikirun, Oyo State (1960-61); and University of London (1971-74). His educational and professional qualifications include: Primary School Leaving Certificate (1955); Grade III Teachers Certificate (1962); Chartered Institute of Secretaries - lntermediate and Finals (1967 and 1978); and B.Sc(Hons) London, 1974. Hon. Rotimi was a school teacher in Lagos, Oshogbo and Minna before leaving for the United Kingdom in 1964 for further studies. While in Britain as a student Hon. Rotimi was an active student unionist. He is a democraticsocialist by political ideology. When he returned from Britain in 1975, he was appointed an Administrative Officer and posted to the Political Division of the Cabinet Office in Lagos where he served in many capacities. He takes interest in writing, music, badminton, and debate. He won a seat in the House of Representatives on the ticket of the Unity Party of Nigeria and represents Ekiti North Constituency.
