Hon. Alhaji Ibrahim Bakwai was born on the 2nd of February 1946 at Sabon-Birni, his home town. Alhaji Bakwai is a muslim. He is one of the 28 children of his father, Alhaji Garba Bakwai, a businessman. His mother, Hajia Habbi has 12 children. He has two wives, Dije A. Ibrahim and Hauwa A. Ibrahim both of whom he married in 1973 and 1975 respectively. He is a father of five children. Alhaji Bakwai attended Government Secon dary School, Funtua, from 1960 to 1965. Much of Alhaji Bakwai's working life has been devoted to business-. He has visited Saudi Arabia, Niger and Dahomey. He takes interest in footballing. Alhaji Bakwai is a member of the National Party of Nigeria and represents Sabon Birni Constituency, Sokoto State in the House of Representatives.
